In 2015, Jim Carrey's ex-girlfriend, Irish makeup artist Cathriona White, died from suicide. Just days before she committed suicide, White and Carrey had called it quits after dating on and off since 2012, per Mirror. In a suicide note obtained by TMZ, White seemed to blame her mental state on the couple's recent breakup. "I've spent three days now in disbelief that you're not here," White said in her suicide note. "I can go on brokenhearted and try to put the pieces back. I could, I just don't have the will this time. I'm sorry you felt I wasn't there for you. I tried to give you my best part."
However, in the aftermath of her death, controversy and questions began to swirl around Jim. Many people started asking questions about Carrey's possible involvement in her death, thanks to the secrets she had been hiding from him during their relationship.
In a shocking twist, it turns out that Cathriona was actually secretly married the entire time she and Jim were together. Many people started wondering if Jim finally found out about it, and in a rage did something to harm her or drove her to the edge of insanity. The family - even her husband - was convinced of this, so they sued Carrey for "wrongful death."
However, in 2018, the case against Carrey was dismissed, but for many people the controvery remained.
Since that relationship, Carrey has only been linked to one other woman, and it didn't last for very long. A lot of mystery sill surrounds Carrey and his possible involvement in his ex-girlfriend's death... and that's probably where this really outlandish urban legend came from... the legend that claims Jim Carrey is actually a secret "serial killer."
Seriously...
And it all centers around the number "23" - the "23 Enigma."
The 23 enigma is a belief in the significance of the number 23. The concept of the 23 enigma has been popularized by various books, movies, and conspiracy theories, which suggest that the number 23 appears with unusual frequency in various contexts and may be a symbol of some larger, hidden significance.

The theory took root on Reddit and just spread like crazy from there. Actually, I probaby wouldn't even bring it up now, except for the fact that it's gotten new life on TikTok and a lot of people are talking about it again.
So, the theory goes like this: Jim Carrey is a secret serial killer who is responsible for the deaths of many famous actors who, like his former girlfriend, supposedly committed suicide.
I think this particular theory has really caught on because it's able to be very deep information-wise and also very shallow - all at the same time.
Many people on Reddit are now REALLY convinced the theory about Carrey being a serial killer is true because Reddit keeps scrubing the site of all the posts talking about it.
However, wouldn't they also just remove the posts for being "untrue?"
