"Now that we have documents in our possession that detail exactly how the Biden family received funding from the Chinese Communist Party, I can assure you that it is just as bad as we had anticipated," "Jim Comer, a Republican from Kentucky and the chairman of the House Oversight Committee, said in an interview on Fox News' "Sunday Morning Futures."
Comer reportedly provided a list of wire transfers, including one for $3 million, to a business associate of Hunter Biden, who Comer claims divided up the funds.
Three distinct Biden family members, including a new member who has never been implicated in any of these investigations, received a share of the $3 million, Comer claimed on Fox News on Monday.
Although Comer will withhold the identity of that family member for the time being, Jim Biden, the president's brother, has in the past had ties to Hunter Biden's business endeavors.
In his books "Secret Empires: How the American Political Class Hides Corruption and Enriches Family and Friends" and "Red-Handed: How American Elites Get Wealthy Helping China Win," Peter Schweizer has spent years conducting research on the Biden family.
His daughter Ashley Biden is married to a man who owns a medical research company, and there have been some concerns raised about their ties to the federal government, according to Schweizer. "He has another brother named Frank Biden who is doing a lot of deals in South America," she added.
According to him, the additional records will help answer some of the many unanswered concerns about the probe.
"We are aware that the Bidens received millions of cash. We also know that despite it appearing that nothing was done with the cash, based on the laptop and business documents. That raises several questions, "Schweizer remarked.
Nonetheless, these latest findings come at a time when House Republicans have suspended an inquiry into whether former President Donald Trump profited from the office. The fact that the investigations they are conducting are motivated by politics has drawn more criticism.
Rep. Jamie Raskin, D-Md., the ranking member of the House Oversight Committee, made this suggestion in a letter to his colleague.
The letter stated, "I believe that this grossly overbroad subpoena shows that your goal in this investigation is not in seeking specific facts or advancing public policy, but rather in running a dragnet of political opposition research on behalf of former President Trump.
Comer disputes any interactions with the former president or his legal counsel. The question of why foreign transactions sent to Hunter Biden and other family members were identified more than 150 times when most Americans are never flagged even once has recently come into focus for Comer and his colleagues House Republicans.
