Protesters Rally for Gun Reform at Tennessee State Capitol After Nashville Shooting

On Thursday, supporters of gun control rallied in front of the Tennessee State Capitol, prompting an intervention by Tennessee State Troopers.

The Tennessee Star reported that over a thousand demonstrators, mostly young people, gathered outside the building and attempted to enter it during a session of the legislature.

Demonstrators can be seen trying to enter the building on video, but police are able to keep them out. Officers take one suspect into custody and take him away.

The Star reports that the episode was backed by Democratic state representatives Justin Jones, Justin Pierson, and Gloria Johnson. According to reports, three legislators stormed the chamber well, and Jones addressed the demonstrators with a bullhorn.

The House adjourned and will resume its session at a later date.

The protest follows a mass shooting in Nashville, Tennessee, where a transgender person is suspected of killing three pupils and three teachers at a Christian school she reportedly used to attend.
