Trouble In Paradise? Affleck Claims Grammy Memes Aren't Telling Real Story

It's not Ben Affleck's fault, OK? His face is permanently in the Resting Ben position. In a lengthy interview with the Hollywood Reporter, the actor covered a wide range of issues, including this one. In case you missed it, Affleck's facial expression of apparent dismay at the Grammy Awards, which he attended with wife Jennifer Lopez, became the topic of countless memes.

"At a certain point, I am who I am," Affleck stated when asked what it's like to be "a walking meme," as described by THR. When asked if he was enjoying himself at the Grammys, he swore he was. One strange interaction between him and JLo was caught on camera (see it here), but he later explained that it was all in good fun when JLo told him, "You better [bleep] not leave" after he joked that he should leave her to sit next to Trevor Noah.

He also became quite serious: "There have been times when I went to an event and was extremely irritated. I went and got myself bored. I've gotten smashed more than a few times at award events. The notion that I am inebriated has never been suggested. But during the Grammys, it was more like, "He's intoxicated." I found that to be rather intriguing.

There is a lot of compassion, but there is still a big stigma, which is often pretty restricting, so this brings up a whole other question about whether or not it is wise to acknowledge addiction. In my opinion, it discourages people from taking positive steps to improve their circumstances."

The piece of advise Lopez provided him before the THR interview? "Just chill down and be who you really are. Get a kick out of life. You seem so serious, yet in reality you're a genuine, entertaining guy." If you're interested in reading the complete interview, which covers a wide range of issues, go here.
