Watch: Allegedly Drunk Woman Drives Car Onto Beach, Almost Hits Child, Ends Up in Water

Drunk driving has become a pressing issue in our country, resembling an epidemic. While such incidents typically result in traffic-related accidents, one particular woman's alcohol-induced journey behind the wheel took a dangerous turn, leading her straight into the ocean.

In a distressing incident on Saturday, a Florida woman was apprehended and charged with driving under the influence. Allegedly, she recklessly drove along a crowded beach at speeds reaching up to 50 mph, narrowly avoiding hitting a child.

The individual in question is 26-year-old Sarah Ramsammy, hailing from Orlando. As beachgoers gathered for the holiday weekend at New Smyrna Beach, Ramsammy made the ill-advised decision to drive her vehicle onto the shoreline. Eventually, her reckless drive ended as she plunged her vehicle into the water. When confronted by deputies from the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office, Ramsammy claimed she was attempting to turn around but was uncertain about the events that unfolded.

“I was the driver, and they kinda stopped us, and they said that we almost hit a child,” Ramsammy told authorities, standing next to her SUV that was partially submerged in the ocean. “I didn’t think that we did, but that’s what they told us.”

Another woman was in the car with Ramsammy. Although vehicles are allowed on some parts of the beach, authorities informed Ramsammy that she had recklessly driven in a restricted area.

“People are down here because you can’t drive on this part of the beach,” the deputies said before telling her she would go to jail.

“And why am I going to jail?” Ramsammy asked.

“Because right now I think you’re driving under the influence,” the deputy responded.

“Okay,” the woman said as her passenger pleaded with the officers not to place her friend under arrest.

Ramsammy had a blood alcohol level of .153, almost double the legal limit, according to authorities. She was also charged with reckless driving and was released on bond Sunday night, ABC News reported.

Could you imagine her audacity in questioning why she was being taken into custody?

Honestly, the behavior of people these days is just beyond comprehension...
