But since buying her three-story townhouse in Tribeca for a whopping $18 million in 2017, Taylor Swift has received 32 citations, amounting to $3,010 in fines, for neglecting to maintain the cleanliness of the sidewalks outside her building, as stated in city records.
However, despite her staggering net worth of approximately $570 million and the demands of her global tours, the pop star, with the assistance of her team of lawyers, made it a priority to contest these penalties and managed to skate out of a whopping $200 in fines.
From The New York Post:
Between January 2018 and January 2023, Sanitation inspectors dinged Swift, 33, for failing to clean the area in front of her building, having a dirty sidewalk, and improperly disposing of garbage.
Over the years, the unsightly stream of grime has included piles of newspapers, bottles and cardboard; napkins and wrappers; and “scattered ashtray contents” and a cigarette carton, according to the summonses.
“She doesn’t care about leaving trash out,” one 22-year-old dog walker told The Post, while just a couple of smushed cigarette butts dotted the area in front of the 27-foot-wide townhouse on the cobblestoned block. “I think she’s more focused on her multi-million dollar tour that’s bankrupting all her fans.”
A rep for Swift declined to comment.
Many people claim that the trash surrounding Swift's residence is not her doing but rather the result of paparazzi and fans who hang around there.
Either way, she definitely has the means to maintain her property cleanliness, so it's quite puzzling why she hasn't taken action.
