Graphic Video of Two People Being Struck by Lightning on Mexico Beach

Two people have reportedly died after being struck by lightning on a beach in Mexico. This incident occurred in Michoacán on Monday, along the country's Pacific coast, during a severe weather event.

In this rather graphic video, you can observe someone folding up an umbrella just moments before lightning fatally struck these two individuals.

From Marca:

Rushing to gather their belongings to leave the beach, two people were caught out by lightning, which electrocuted them.

Municipal authorities said that the people struck were identified as a tourist and a hammock seller from Colima.

One was a woman, who was killed instantly, while the other was a male who was taken to a hospital but died while receiving medical attention.

It's incredibly rare to be struck by lightning, to be precise, it happens at a rate of 1 in 15,300.

Furthermore, it's even more uncommon to die from such a strike, as typically 90% of people survive.
