But is it the best wedding spot? For most Americans, the answer would be no, but for a German couple who wished to have an "American Wedding," the famous fast-food joint was their first pick.
And they didn't just choose to go to a McDonald's in their home country. Instead, they made the journey to a small town in Michigan to get the full "American" experience.
From The Messenger:
Before heading to their wedding ceremony earlier this week, newlyweds Mike and Kathi Haller and their 23 guests made an unexpected pitstop at their "all-time favorite restaurant" — a McDonald's in small-town Michigan.
The German couple rolled through the drive-thru in a red Mustang, with the establishment's jingle — "I'm lovin' it" — plastered across the doors and its distinctive golden arches emblazoned on the hood.
“I think when someone asks me about my favorite part of the wedding, one of the first things that will come up is McDonald's,” Kathi told the Detroit Free Press. “The experience we had there was so unique and special. The next time I’m at a McDonald's, I will have these memories with me.”
The Munich-based newlyweds and their guests, most of whom also hail from Germany, feasted on cheeseburgers, fries, McNuggets, and Cokes in their wedding attire. The chain's ambiguous purple mascot, Grimace, joined them for the celebration.
The Hallers, who count themselves as McDonald's "mega fans," are world travelers. They said that any time they visit a new place, they always make a point to stop at the local McDonald's.
“Every country we visit has its own unique burger or meal, so we like to try everything," Mike explained. "We've been to McDonald's in Japan, Israel, Italy, all over Europe and it's always fun because you have your standard meal that always feels (like) home anywhere you are.”
They first came upon the Croswell franchise — located in a small town about an hour-and-a-half outside of Detroit — while visiting a family friend near Lake Huron in 2016.
Honestly, at first, I thought the idea of a wedding at McDonald's was incredibly cheesy, but this is really cute.
It's quite charming how this couple enjoys eating this fast food all over the world, and it always gives them that warm, fuzzy feeling.
