For helping the Democrats approve a $1.7 trillion federal spending agreement, former president Donald Trump has been particularly critical of Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, accusing the Kentucky Republican of giving in to a “horrendous” bargain because the Democrats have dirt on him.
Mr. Trump blasted the massive bipartisan spending bill that funds the government through September in a series of posts on his social media site Truth Social on Monday and Tuesday, despite the fact that House Republicans had demanded that Congress delay a budget until January, when they take the majority.
Mr. Trump warned that the “All Democrat, All the Way” OMINOUS Bill would be passed only if the Democrats had something “very major” on Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell.

The proposal is a “huge gift & capitulation to CHINA, making COCO CHOW so happy!” he cried, using a racial slur against Elaine Chao, Mr. McConnell’s wife and former Trump Transportation secretary.
To prevent a shutdown of the government and pass the funding bill, a total of 60 votes were needed to overcome a filibuster; 18 Republican senators, including Mr. McConnell, joined all Democrats in this effort.
After losing control of both houses of Congress, Mr. McConnell and his friends hailed this as the best the Republicans could achieve.
But Mr. Trump and a vociferous group of conservative senators say the Republican leader gave in to out-of-control spending just weeks before the party was poised to control the purse strings in the House.
