Memphis PD Releases Horrific Bodycam Video Of Brutal Beating Delivered By Five Police Officers

Tyre Nichols was brutally beaten by five police officers on January 7; the injuries he sustained ultimately led to his death. The disturbing bodycam video was released by Memphis PD. Four videos in all showing the complete series of events were provided by the authorities. The explicit footage is for adult audiences only; use caution.

Before the footage of the police confrontation was made public, the family of Nichols, who passed away after the traffic check descended into violence, pleaded for peace.

Three days after the traffic stop and subsequent beating, Mr. Nichols passed away on January 10. Five officers were charged with murder in the case on Thursday. Former officers Emmit Martin III, Justin Smith, Tadarrius Bean, Demetrius Haley, and Desmond Mills—all of whom were terminated last week—have been charged, according to Shelby County District Attorney Steve Mulroy.

Large cities are planning protests for Friday night. Prior to the release, Nichols’ family and officials who had access to the body camera film claimed that the incident demonstrated that Nichols had been severely battered.

His family reaffirmed their desire for peaceful protests when the footage is made public on CNN on Friday morning and during a press conference on Friday.
