Woman Held Partly Responsible For Stealing Lady Gaga’s Dogs Is Suing Star For The 500K Prize?

Jennifer McBride is suing Lady Gaga because she claims she never received the $500,000 prize she was promised for returning the singer’s canines after they were stolen in 2021. The lawsuit was first covered by BuzzFeed News.

Ryan Fischer, Gaga’s dog walker, was shot in February 2021 while out walking the singer’s French bulldogs. Koji and Gustav, two of the three canines, were taken by the perpetrators. After the event, Gaga offered a $500,000 reward for the Koji and Gustav’s safe return.

In April 2021, police made five arrests, including McBride, who “discovered” the dogs and gave them to officers two days after the robbery. Police initially thought McBride was not a part of the crime, but as the Los Angeles Times previously reported, it was later discovered that she was dating the father of one of the suspects.

The Los Angeles Times reports that McBride, who had pleaded not guilty to one count of receiving stolen property, was given a two-year probationary period in December 2022.

According to the Los Angeles Times, James Howard Johnson, the person who shot Fischer, received a 21-year prison term in the same month.

In the lawsuit that BuzzFeed News was able to get, McBride asserts that since she didn’t get the incentive, she “has incurred compensatory damages, pain and suffering, mental anguish, and loss of enjoyment of life.”

Additionally, it is alleged in the lawsuit that Gaga “defrauded” McBride by making a promise she had no intention of keeping.
