California Man Accused Of Killing Former Partner, Another Man: Sheriff’s Department

According to officials and numerous news sources, a California man with a history of domestic violence is accused of killing his former partner and another man. According to jail records, Temecula resident David Alan Floyd, 59, is accused of first-degree murder, disobeying a domestic violence court order, and possessing a firearm despite being forbidden to do so by a restraining order.

According to a press release from the Riverside County Sheriff's Office, the bodies of two people who went missing on March 2 were found close to the intersection of East Benton Road and Sage Road in Hemet, an unincorporated community. The bodies are thought to be those of Angel Ponce and Danielle Ricker, both 31 years old, who went missing.

According to the press statement, the couple's presumed fatalities were only discovered three days after investigators executed a search warrant at Floyd's residence and detained him.

Ponce, a resident of Escondido, was reported missing by relatives on February 18, according to the sheriff's office. Then, Ricker of Temecula was also reported missing five days later. Ponce and Ricker cohabitated in Temecula, and the release claims that there was "evidence suggesting they were deceased."

Floyd was taken into custody as a consequence of an investigation that the sheriff's office started on February 26.

Court documents, according to Patch, NBC, and KTLA, suggest Floyd has a history of abusing Ricker, his alleged ex-girlfriend. In exchange for the dismissal of a charge of battery on a spouse or partner, who was later identified as Ricker, Floyd entered a guilty plea in February to a misdemeanor charge of disturbing the peace.

In addition, according to Patch, Floyd was apparently told to stop speaking to Ricker and pay her back. Floyd and Ricker's relationship, as well as the events leading up to Ricker and Ponce's murders, were not further discussed by the sheriff's office. It was not immediately clear why there may have been violence.

At the Robert Presley Correctional Center in Riverside, Floyd was being held without bond. His next court date, according to jail records, is March 14. It's not known if he has a lawyer on retainer who can represent him.
