Michael Cohen's Not Happy With Trump Support; Claims Defenders Belong "To A Cult"

Republicans supporting Donald Trump were blasted by Michael Cohen, the former personal attorney for the late president who is now a central role in his New York prosecution, who claimed they were "in the cult."

Why do you think Republicans, at least a significant portion of them, continue to support Trump? Cohen was questioned by Robert Costa of CBS News in an interview that aired on Sunday.

They belong to a cult. And I understand what it's like to be in a cult," Cohen remarked. "Wash your eyes and examine Donald Trump's true identity now. It's time for the former president's followers to start hearing the truth, he told them.

Trump was charged last week for allegedly participating in a hush money conspiracy to keep adult film star Stormy Daniels from disclosing details of an alleged relationship with him in the months leading up to the 2016 election.

Trump, who is now a candidate for president in 2024, has characterized the Manhattan lawsuit as "political persecution." His comments concerning the indictment and criticism of the prosecutor handling the case have been mirrored by others in his party.

The issue is that Donald Trump never tells the truth, as you can see. Ever. He never says anything that isn't either false, exaggerated, false, misleading, or just outright false. And everything done with that information is done so that he, and him alone, can benefit," Cohen stated.

In 2018, Cohen admitted to orchestrating the payment to settle Daniels' allegations against the former president. Trump rejects the scandal.

In an interview with CBS, Cohen predicted "complete and total mayhem" when Trump shows up in New York on Tuesday for his scheduled arraignment.

Being fingerprinted, having his photo taken, and being called a felon, Cohen said of Trump, adding that he believes the former president is "petrified."
