19-Year Old MI Girl Who Murdered Her Father By Dousing Him in Drain Cleaner Walks Free

In Michigan, a 19-year-old girl named Megan Imirowicz was involved in a psychotic incident where she poured a chemical drain cleaner on her sleeping father, causing him severe harm. Her father, Konrad, tragically passed away six months later due to his injuries.

Megan, commited the crime after becoming angry with her father for being too drunk to take her to a hair appointment She originally faced a life sentence for this act.

However, during the sentencing hearing, she was sentenced to one year in prison, considering the time she had already served, and she was also given five years of probation. As a result, she has been released from court.

From The Daily Mail:

Imirowicz was found guilty of using harmful devices/irritants causing death in a four-day trial presided over by Judge Victoria Valentine in June. For this felony she could have been sentenced to life imprisonment or any term of years and/or a fine up to $40,000 - but was let off with a light sentence.

The teen spent 500 days in a suburban Detroit jail after her father's death in March 2022. In addition, Imirowicz will undergo strict probation restrictions and is forced into an education program.

The teen sobbed in court upon learning of her reduced sentence.

She expressed her happiness at being able to return home to her family and revealed her shock at the leniency of the judge's decision.

'I'm really happy I get to go home with my family,' she said to Law & Crime Network on Tuesday, adding: 'I'm excited.'

Imirowicz allegedly threw lye powder on her father with water, in order to produce a chemical reaction and cause severe burns on 1 October 2021.

The powder is often used in drain cleaner and has the ability to corrode things on contact, including metal, paint, cloth and skin. It is even more dangerous when lye is wet, as mixing it with water creates an exothermic reaction which causes a dramatic temperature increase of the water, getting up to 200F.

Prosecutors said that Imirowicz threw the power on her father because she was upset with him for being too drunk to take her to a hair appointment ahead of her 18th birthday party. Konrad is said to have been an alcoholic.

Police reported that teenager Imirowicz had been home when the incident began and left her father unconscious on the couch in their home before leaving the residence.

They later found the lye powder and water strewn over the couch after the 64-year-old was found by a neighbor in his Groveland Township home and was taken to hospital.

He had suffered significant injuries, including chemical burns to the head, torso and 'extremities'.

While in hospital, Konrad had his legs amputated, endured multiple infections, a tracheotomy, skin grafts and kidney dialysis, reports The Oakland Press.

Gotta hand it to our pathetic excuse of a justice system for failing once again to deliver proper justice.

This teenager, whether it was intentional or not, took her father's life in a long, drawn out death and yet she practically got away with it.

Absolutely shameful.
