You Ready? Oliver Anthony Does It Again

Country singer Oliver Anthony has tapped into Americans' collective soul with his hit song "Rich Men North of Richmond." Anthony possesses the uncanny ability to articulate how those of us who uphold more conservative values feel as we watch our nation transform into something we no longer recognize.

Oliver has once again achieved this with his new release titled "I Want To Go Home," where he expresses the turmoil of watching the world disintegrate around him from his rural farm in Virginia.

If it weren’t for my old dogs and the good Lord
They’d have me strung up in the psych ward
‘Cause every day living in this new world
Is one too many days to me
Son, we’re on the brink of the next World War
And I don’t think nobody’s praying no more
And I ain’t saying I know it for sure
I’m just down on my knees begging the Lord take me home

I wanna go home
I don’t know which road to go
It’s been so long
I just know I didn’t used to wake up feeling this way
Cussing myself every damn day
There’s always some kind of bill to pay
People just doing what the rich man say
I wanna go home

Four generations farmin’ the ground
Grandson says to a man out of town
Two weeks later the trees go down
Only got concrete throwin’ around

I wanna go home
I wanna go home
I don’t know which road to go
It’s been so long
I just know I didn’t used to wake up feeling this way
Cussing myself every damn day
People have really gone and lost their way
They all just do what the TV say
I wanna go home

If it weren’t for my old dogs and the good Lord
They’d have me strung up in the psych ward

This is an amazing and almost haunting song that truly makes you pause and question how we reached this point as a nation.

We no longer hold onto faith; if anything, corrupt corporations and television seem to have become our new religion.

Oliver's words serve as a reminder that we need to revert to simpler times, where prayer and family kept us united.
