But what about faking a heart attack to avoid paying up?
One man originally from Lithuania has crafted the ultimate scheme: faking a heart attack to get a free meal. He has successfully pulled off this stunt at 20 different restaurants in Spain.
From The Express:
A picture has been sent out of the man, showing him slumped in a chair, as restaurants are warned of his antics.
He feigned heart attacks in this way at every restaurant he went to, the majority of which were in Costa Blanca.
One restaurant owner told of how the man ordered severl glasses of whiskey before pretending to have a health episode.
The manager of El Buen Comer said: "It was very theatrical, he pretended to faint and slumped himself down on the floor.
"We have sent his photo around to all the restaurants to try and stop him from striking again."
A worker at Sale&Pepe added: "We’ve all received a warning with his photo telling us to be careful and do not serve him anything."
The man has now been jailed for 42 days for refusing to pay his fines. Because each incident only cost the businesses a small amount of money at a time, the offense is only considered a "minor crime."
Hopefully, restaurants throughout all of Europe have this guy's mug shot posted in the back of all their kitchens. Because we know he's going to keep pulling this stunt; he'll just move it to a different location.
