The injuries these girls are sustaining from competing against physically stronger and faster boys are excessive and completely avoidable. Recently, there was an incident where a male athlete ended up breaking a young girl's teeth.

Tensions are high in a Massachusetts school district where a high school female field hockey player suffered "significant facial and dental injuries" after being hit in the face on a shot from a male opponent, an official said Wednesday.
Bill Runey, the Dighton-Rehoboth superintendent of schools, appeared on "OutKick The Morning" with Charly Arnolt and described outrage in the district.
"It’s very hot. The tension is very high," Runey said. "At first, it was a sense of trauma. I went to meet the bus when the girls returned from Swampscott because I wanted to let them know that they had the support of the district.
The stadium echoed with the shrieks and screams of fear and pain after she was struck. Equally chilling were the looks of horror and shock on her teammates' faces. These teammates were in tears, overwhelmed for concern for the injured girl but also for themselves. They had to return to the field and continue playing against the hulking male athlete who had just sent one of their own to the hospital.
This is shameful what we’re doing to girls in this country. They’re being erased.
