Just outside a Washington D.C. federal court where Trump faces charges, two un-named reporters engaged in a candid conversation about the president. It appeared they momentarily forgot they were surrounded by microphones, as they delved into the possibility of Trump arriving in a convertible. This unmistakable reference draws parallels to President John F. Kennedy and the convertible motorcade he took in 1963 when he faced an unfortunate assassination.
From TMZ:
One guy says to the other, "Maybe someone, just like they told JFK, 'Y'know what ya should do, you should take a convertible!" Hahaha.
The video shows police officers standing just a few feet away from the mystery journos, but it's unclear if the cops heard the remarks. It's certainly possible the Secret Service will take an interest in the video.
Trump showed up at the U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals -- in a motorcade of SUVs, for what it's worth -- to argue he should have immunity from prosecution in special counsel Jack Smith's election subversion case.
Of course, there are already many on the left that have been quick to defend these journalists, insisting that they were merely joking. However, discussing the assassination of a president, particularly as so-called journalists, is wholly inappropriate, to say the least.
It's genuinely unsettling that those who claim to keep us "informed" carry an unbelievably strong bias against a president supported by a significant portion of Americans. It prompts one to question whose interests these journalists are truly serving.
