Gerald Green's ordeal began with what he thought was a mere consequence of a lousy mattress – back pain. Little did he know, the underlying cause was far more sinister; he was battling terminal cancer. Within a matter of days, the young man tragically lost the fight against the ruthless disease.

On 26 January 2024, Green was given a terminal diagnosis after a series of tests revealed he had an incurable and highly aggressive cancer, as reported by Glasgow Live. The tests came about following an emergency hospital visit after the Renfrewshire, Scotland resident started vomiting and coughing up blood.
On 19 January, Green was taken to the Royal Alexandra Hospitalby his mother, where medics found he was severely anaemic and rushed him into surgery to drain his kidney.
The patient gradually stopped breathing on the operating table and had to be resuscitated by doctors. The medical professionals were then forced to put Green into an induced coma to try and stabilise him.
Green passed away on 30 January, mere hours after he had been transferred to St Vincent’s Hospice for end of life care. His family has since come forward to state that they are in “shock” following his extremely rapid decline and have urged people not to ignore any major changes to their bodies as it could save their lives.
Ailley Colquhoun, Green’s cousin, has launched a GoFundMe in memory of her beloved relative in the hopes of raising funds to cover the costs of his funeral and give him “the send off he deserves.”
