As Recession Looms; Doocy Goes Toe-To-Toe With Jean Pierre’s Strong Economy Narrative

How President Joe Biden can assert that the economy is “strong as hell” while so many experts predict an impending recession was a question that Fox News White House correspondent Peter Doocy challenged Biden Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre to answer.

Following a Bloomberg story that predicted a 100% likelihood of a recession, Doocy challenged Jean-Pierre about the White House’s rhetoric regarding the status of the economy.

Doocy brought up the article, telling Jean-Pierre that she had claimed Biden has been focusing on the economy ever since he took office. He questioned, “How is it that we are headed for a recession yet the economy is, as the President says,’strong as hell’?”

In response, Jean-Pierre noted that the employment market is robust and that often this isn’t the case before to a recession, but he did not dispute the forecasts that one will nevertheless occur.

“I’ve said it before, but here’s the problem with the economy. You have heard this from both Secretary Yellen and Brian Deese, the head of our economic council. Is the robust employment market what we are now witnessing? The labor force is robust, which contrasts with what is typical before a recession. The effort that this president has done has contributed significantly to it “Jean Pierre stated

The economy, according to Jean-Pierre, is “resilient.”

According to Bloomberg, there is a 100% possibility that the economy would contract in the upcoming year:

The story continued by saying, “According to recent Bloomberg Economics model estimates, the US will experience a recession over the next 12 months, dealing President Joe Biden’s economic message prior to the November midterm elections a blow. The 12-month prediction of a downturn by October 2023 is based on the most recent recession probability models by Bloomberg economists Anna Wong and Eliza Winger. They predict a greater recession likelihood across all timeframes.”

Biden stated over the weekend that despite historically high inflation, high interest rates, and high gasoline prices, he believes the economy is fundamentally solid.

A few days ago, Biden declared while chowing down on ice cream, our economy is as robust as heck.
