McCarthy To Make Good On Removing Dems From Committee Seats

Reps. Adam Schiff, Eric Swalwell, and Ilhan Omar will no longer serve on the House committees they are on, according to House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, who made good on his pre-midterm campaign promise.

Following through on a promise of retaliation after Democrats forced Reps. Paul Gosar (R-Ariz.) and Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) off their panels during the last Congress, McCarthy (R-Calif.) told the Associated Press that he would attempt to remove the trio from their assignments.

The House Intelligence Committee would lose California representatives Schiff and Swalwell, while the House Foreign Affairs Committee would lose Minnesota representative Omar.

McCarthy promised to fire the three Democrats nearly exactly one year ago if Republicans took back the House in the 2022 midterm elections, and he reaffirmed that statement last November after his prediction came true.

In January of last year, McCarthy claimed that “the Democrats have invented a new thing where they are picking and selecting who may be on committee.” “Never in the history [of Congress] have you had the majority tell the minority who might be on committee, but this new standard, which these Democrats have voted for — there’s no reason why Eric Swalwell should be given a security clearance to be on Intel or Homeland Security.”

McCarthy has stated that he worries that Swalwell may be compromised as a result of accusations that a Chinese spy may have infiltrated his campaign and gotten close to the congressman in 2020.

“Eric Swalwell is not eligible for a security clearance in the government. Why would we ever let him access to the secrets of America? Therefore, I won’t let him work for Intel,” McCarthy said in a November interview with Fox News. Adam Schiff is one of the many people who has repeatedly lied to the American people. He is not welcome on the Intel Committee, either.

Schiff angered Republicans by leading the first attempt to remove former President Donald Trump from office and by serving on the House select committee that looked into Trump’s involvement in the Capitol riot on January 6, 2021.

McCarthy has stated that because of her anti-Semitic comments, he will remove Omar, a member of the liberal “Squad,” along with Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), from the Foreign Affairs Committee.

He addressed the audience at the Republican Jewish Coalition’s leadership conference for 2022 in November, “I promised you last year that as speaker she will no longer be on Foreign Affairs, and I’m following that promise.
