According to a recent report, Republican Governor of Florida Ron DeSantis’ advisers are preparing the groundwork for a future bid for the presidency in 2024. DeSantis, who was chosen in November to serve a second term as governor of Florida, has not officially declared his intention to run for president.
John Bolton, a former US ambassador, and former president Donald Trump are the only prominent Republicans to have publicly declared their intention to run. Larry Elder, a podcaster and long shot, has stated that he would likely run regardless of Trump.
However, DeSantis, who won a resounding victory in Florida in November, places second or first in the majority of polls that gauge Republican sentiment toward a standard-bearer for 2024.

According to The Washington Post, which based its report on “two Republicans with knowledge of the conversations,” aides are putting the pieces together in the event DeSantis runs because of the level of national support he has and the rising national profile he has gained from his policies to support parents in schools.
The report claims that possible hires have been located in Iowa and New Hampshire, early primary states, and that some experienced individuals have expressed interest.
According to the paper, discussions about 2024 were heavily influenced by Phil Cox and Generra Peck, who both served on DeSantis’s staff the previous year. Peck oversaw the DeSantis campaign last year, and Cox served as the Republican Governors Association’s previous executive director. When the Post contacted them for comment regarding its theories, neither one answered.
Republican delegate from New Hampshire Bill Bowen expressed his opinion that DeSantis may succeed in his state.
The network of establishment party supporters in New Hampshire, according to Bowen, “will quickly have a very successful DeSantis campaign.”
DeSantis and Trump are listed by the Post as the two leading Republicans who could run for president in 2024, along with former vice president Mike Pence, former U.N. ambassador and governor of South Carolina Nikki Haley, former secretary of state Mike Pompeo, former governors of New Jersey Chris Christie, Maryland Larry Hogan, Arkansas Asa Hutchinson, South Dakota Kristi Noem, New Hampshire Chris Sununu, and Virginia Glenn Youngkin.
The Post also mentioned former representatives Liz Cheney of Wyoming, Ted Cruz of Texas, and Tim Scott of South Carolina as potential candidates.
According to Amy Walter’s research, Georgia Governor Brian Kemp’s name shouldn’t be forgotten, as it was posted on the Cook Political Report. The key to victory in 2024, she argued, will be determining the voters’ attitudes.
Despite losing the previous two presidential elections, voters in 2016 “obviously weren’t interested in another ‘establishment’ standard-bearer” and were “ready to take a large chance with an unproven, undisciplined, but absolutely distinctive Trump,” the author concluded. “Fear of Trump’s second term was more strong than doctrine or personality for Democrats in 2020,” she concluded.
She voiced her opinion towards the GOP 2024 election. “For Republicans, the atmosphere this year shows that people are seeking a someone similar to Trump, but without the baggage and drama. DeSantis’ appeal is due to this. But there is no assurance that it will still be the case in a few months or that DeSantis will continue to be viewed as the best match for that position,” the author stated.
