WATCH: The View’s Ana Navarro Tried To Embarrass Ted Cruz But His Answer Shocked Even Her

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) was challenged by ABC’s The View on Monday on comments made by then-GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump about his wife, Heidi Cruz, being unattractive and the senator’s description of Trump as “utterly amoral” in 2016.

The co-host, Ana Navarro, remarked, “We’ve seen politicians who have said a lot of things about one other, but Donald Trump went really personal when it came to you. He labeled your wife Heidi unattractive and said that your father could have been involved in Kennedy’s killing The tape of Cruz criticizing Trump from 2016 was then broadcast on The View.

“Let me tell you my true opinion of Donald Trump. This dude has a serious lying disorder. He is unable of distinguishing between the truth and falsehoods, said Cruz. He essentially lies in every sentence that he says. The dude has no morals at all. For him, morality does not exist.

Navarro questioned Cruz after the soundbite, “I honestly don’t know how you get past your wife being labeled ugly. I’m not sure how you overcome tragedies like that with your father. But it’s clear that you’ve moved on. You sing an entirely different song now. Tell us: Did you lie back then, or do you still lie today?

Cruz referred to Navarro’s inquiry as “loaded.”

He said, “I think a lot of people have the same question,” in response to Navarro. We’re witnessing a radically different Ted Cruz, according to Navarro. Would you not agree that Ted Cruz then is substantially different from Ted Cruz now?

Cruz said, “This is what I would say. In our 2016 primary, Donald Trump and I absolutely destroyed one another. Heidi chuckled when he said it, I can tell you that. My dad chuckled. Also, my dad didn’t simply murder Kennedy. Jimmy Hoffa is interred in the backyard beside him. It was stupid.

“And we engaged in a fight, which he ultimately won. And in November 2016 I had to make a choice. He had been elected president, and I now had the duty to speak on behalf of 30 million Texans. I could have made the choice to grab the ball and go home instead of working since my feelings had been wounded. Cruz emphasized, “If I was willing to do that, I had better be ready to resign from my position because I have a duty.

Cruz concluded by saying, “So what I did is I went and said, Listen, we have an opportunity to make a difference for this nation and I want to roll up my sleeves and lead the battle to really deliver on promises.” We were just discussing how the economy is just thriving. 7 million individuals were able to stop receiving food assistance. The level of poverty decreased. African Americans’ levels of poverty decreased. We noticed a decline in Hispanic poverty. I’m proud of my track record in achieving genuine outcomes that have a meaningful impact, so why did I decide to work with him despite my anger at what he said? I had a task to accomplish and an obligation to fulfill.
