Trump has flatly refuted the Russian collusion story for years. Despite persistent claims in the mainstream media, many investigations, including one led by former special counsel Robert Mueller, found no proof that Trump conspired with Moscow to win the 2016 election.
Trump mentioned the special counsel John Durham’s inquiry into the federal government’s Russia investigation on Saturday during a rally in Ohio to promote GOP candidates. Igor Danchenko, the supposed primary source of the “Steele dossier” that purportedly targeted Trump, was allegedly turned into a paid FBI informant later on, according to Durham’s team’s court brief from last week.
Danchenko, a Russia expert, is accused of lying to the FBI on five different occasions. He entered a not-guilty plea to the accusations.

Danchenko’s attorneys stated that their client “sat through several voluntary FBI interviews and submitted hours of accurate information to the agency” and that he “had no awareness of their existence” and had “no part” in the “drafting of the” Steele dossier.
