After Democrats tweeted that being concerned about border security was a “white nationalist plot,” Rep. Byron Donalds, a Black Republican, exploded on them, challenging them to say that to his face. The tweet was published by the House Oversight and Accountability Committee’s official Democratic account moments before a hearing with two senior Border Patrol officials on the mayhem at the southern border.
The Republicans who convened the hearing, according to the Democrats, “are using today’s hearing to elevate white supremacist conspiracy theories instead of a comprehensive approach to safeguard our borders and strengthen our immigration system.”

Mr. Donalds questioned them over the claim. I won’t be doing that. So if you have that strong of an opinion, come over to this side of the room and let’s have a face-to-face discussion. But reserve that sort of foolishness for someone else. You shouldn’t bring that in today. This is serious stuff, the Republican from Florida added. Even though no Democrats responded to his offer, the tweet was still on.
The committee’s top Democrat is Rep. Jamie Raskin of Maryland, and his staff is in charge of the account.
Republicans issued a challenge to Democrats to openly denounce the tweet’s substance.
However, as the meeting went on, Democrats claimed they had proof of White nationalism when Arizona Republican Rep. Paul Gosar stated that Mr. Biden’s solution to the border instability was “more big brother, more control, even changing our culture.”
Rep. Maxwell Frost, a Democrat from Florida, said, “I get what he’s trying to express. However, in my opinion, immigrants are Americans and as such, contribute to American culture.
Texas Democrat Rep. Greg Casar also took issue with Republicans characterizing the border situation as a “invasion.”
Mr. Gosar replied that he still stands by his comments. After the hearing, he released a statement in which he claimed that “illegal immigration alters our culture of law and order.” “Our immigration procedure is legal. Numerous people have legally migrated here in the millions. However, six million illegal foreigners have broken our laws over the past two years and are transforming our culture away from the Rule of Law.
He cited news this week about a hospital in his Arizona district that is having serious financial difficulties due to the unpaid treatment of illegal immigrants. According to him, the hospital rejects patients, including expectant mothers.
“I stand by what I said. Illegal immigrants negatively impact our culture, he claimed. “My committee colleague talked about how legal immigration is ingrained in our culture. I concur with that. However, I disagree with them regarding illegal immigration.
